The project's interior design and addition consists of a simple, continuous wrap that juxtaposes the existing New England Cottage style Architecture. By covering the existing vaulted ceiling, the distractions are minimized, directing the focus outwards. The new raised opening and floor-to-ceiling glass allow all patrons − even those at the farthest point in the restaurant − to view the beach, the bay, and the tops of the skyscrapers. Candelas, taking its namesake from the flickering candle lights, is truly a unique experience.

Candelas epitomizes the romantic atmosphere of an elegant hacienda. The addition of the steel structure wraps floor to ceiling windows, which maximize views of the Downtown San Diego skyline.

The restaurant’s interior design and rectangular addition is in direct response to the client’s wishes:

It’s all about the views!
